VCB Goes Into The Vail at Greenwood Cemetery

From Greenwood Cemetery

Last Saturday, Village Community Boathouse joined Atlas Obscura for a pre-Halloween event “Into the Veil.”at Greenwood Cemetery. The idea was to provide a variety of supernatural/creepy/odd/scary entertainment on the cemetery grounds— silent movies in the chapel; an avant-garde mambo band playing in the catacombs and an opera singer in a boat on the moonlit pond. That’s where VCB came in.

Marcel Dejean, VCB volunteer and senior coxswain rowed a bunch of musicians–an opera singer, then a violinist, then an accordionist wearing a ram’s head–around Sylvan Waters, the lake in Green-Wood Cemetery. The New York Times covered the event.
