Boatbuilding Report 2-27-11

We had a large turnout and got a lot done. Gunwale decks were cut and fitted. Floors were completed and floorboards are glued up or ready for gluing. Limber holes were reamed out. Fore and aft decks are almost ready for gluing. Thole pad blocks were installed. Supports for seats are built and ready to install.

VCB Third Annual Membership Meeting

The third annual VCB Members meeting was held on Wednesday, 2/23 with a modest turnout of 22 which qualified as a quorum. John Volker, Davis Shehigian, Tony Rentschler, David Rice, Phil Shinn, Mike Zamansky, and Emily Travis were approved by the board as new voting members. Yeah!!! These are capable, competent & generous volunteers who are welcome additions to our voting membership.

The membership approved annual membership dues of $25. with details such as when the dues are due to be worked out by the board.

Boatbuilding Report 2011-02-20

Sally’s Progress Report on Cornish Pilot Gig: The floors were fitted and glued-no mean feat! The seams in the bow were sealed with a bead of epoxy. Mary Nell and Dave repaired the cannonball hole in Bird in anticipation of the Snow Row.

Boatbuilding Report 2011-02-13

Pilot Gig Progress: We cleaned up around the inwale and outwale-rasping , sanding and chiseling with a heat gun; cut the floors, which are ready for glueing. Frames are done. Internet is working. Dave is experimenting with steaming and bending frames for the skin boat.

Sally’s Pilot Gig Boatbuilding Report 2-5-11: We have DSL and we have a phone in the boathouse! It’s a little slow but Frank is on it. We glued the inwale to the port side. Fore and aft decks will follow.
